SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS

Our Mission & Responsibility

Sustainability has a long tradition at our company and is an integral part of our corporate philosophy. As a modern chemical company, we bear a special responsibility toward people, the environment, and society.

Guided by our motto, “Making a Difference Together for Generations to Come,” health and safety and social responsibility are our top priorities.

Let’s work together to make our world a little cleaner every day than we found it. Let’s protect our health—in a sustainable way.

Dr. Thomas Schnell CEO, DR.SCHNELL GmbH & Co. KGaA

As a driving force for innovation in the industry.

“Every innovation must be more environmentally friendly than anything we have done before — and this applies to the whole picture, beyond the product itself.”

— Dr. Thomas Schnell

As a driving force for innovation in the industry, we want to lead by example. Reviewing our value chain with the goal of reducing CO₂ emissions is an ongoing process within our company. We work every day to improve our carbon footprint by calculating and reducing our operational emissions. Any emissions that cannot be reduced are offset through climate protection projects. Our partners should also benefit from this. Our specialist advisers will put together an ideal range of cleaning products for you; in doing so, we help to reduce the CO₂* emissions caused by our cleaning and disinfectant products and offset the remaining CO₂*, thereby enabling you to practise hygiene in an environmentally responsible manner.

Reducing Packaging Waste

We are constantly increasing our recycled content and taking on packaging waste. Our high-concentrate products are fundamentally more sustainable than ready-to-use products. The ECO Collection is available in bottles and canisters made from 100% recycled PCR plastic, while our ECOLUTION series reduces packaging waste through liquid ultra-high-concentrate formulations and eliminates it entirely with self-dissolving granule sticks in compostable pouches. We encourage refilling with bulk containers and refill packs.

Reuse of Valuable Resources

Our ECO Collection was awarded Cradle to Cradle Gold certification in 2020 and thus meets the highest standards for material safety and the responsible use of our resources. From manufacturing through use to recycling or disposal, the ECO Collection contributes to sustainability, resource efficiency, and eco-effectiveness—all without generating environmentally harmful waste.

Green Electricity & On-Site Water Treatment

Through our photovoltaic system at our Munich facility, we generate more than half of the electricity needed for our production ourselves and feed some of it into the public grid. Since 2020, we have been optimizing our production water supply by expanding our reverse osmosis systems. A water treatment plant reduces the burden on the municipal wastewater system in terms of chemical and energy use and minimizes the generation of greenhouse gases.

Emissions Reduction in Transportation

Transporting our high- and ultra-high-concentrate products results in significantly lower emissions than transporting ready-to-use products, as it minimizes the need for the resource-intensive transport of water. Our ECOLUTION Sticks even eliminate the need for water transport entirely. Loading and storage space are optimally utilized thanks to the product’s low volume and weight. For our logistics, we completely avoid air freight and keep transport routes short.

Turning Old into New – Recycled Materials for the Cycle

Since 2022, our “Starke 3” products have been shipped in packaging made from 30% recycled plastic. This allows us to keep our environmental promise and reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 18%* per package.

Environmental Statement – Supply Chain & Value Chain

In our annual environmental statement, we present our environmental goals and provide a detailed account of our environmentally relevant activities and data, including resource and energy consumption, emissions, waste, etc.
